City Island

Delicious seafood restaurants and quaint antique shops abound in this scenic seaport community. Located at the edge of New York City in the Bronx, City Island is reminiscent of a picturesque New England fishing village and is a great destination for a day-long outing.

Things to Do

Many of the attractions on City Island are located on the one main street, City Island Avenue, which runs down the center of island. Great views of the water are available at every turn.

Visitors can enjoy biking on the several paths that lead to and from the island or shopping and dining on the main street. City Island is also home to the City Island Nautical Museum (open weekend afternoons) which features marine artifacts that tell the story of the island’s rich nautical history.

Lovely views of the water are available everywhere as the small community is surrounded by Long Island Sound, however there are no public beaches or boat ramps on the island.

Nautical Community

Home to New York City’s nautical community, City Island has several yacht clubs, commercial marinas and yacht charters. Fishing boats are available for rental in season.

Visiting City Island in New York City

City Island is located just past Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx borough of New York. It can be reached by taking the number 6 subway to Pelham Bay, then the Bronx bus BX29. Cabs are also available for transport from the train.
