Conservatory Garden

A perfect spot for a New York City wedding, the Conservatory Garden is located in Central Park at Fifth Avenue and 105th Street. It is the only formal garden in Central Park. The Garden is a popular spot for summer weddings and a lovely place to stroll or just sit and relax, as it is free of runners and bicyclists.

A stunning refuge in the midst of the city, visitors to the garden on a summer weekend will find weddings taking place and many wedding parties posing for pictures among the fountains and expertly manicured foliage.

Three Distinct Garden Styles

Opened in 1937, Conservatory Garden was designed by landscape architect Gilmore D. Clarke. It features six acres of meticulously planted seasonal gardens as well as statues, benches and pools of water. The Garden is actually made up of three gardens in distinctive styles: English, French and Italian.

The English garden, dotted with magnolia and lilac trees, is where visitors will find the statue of author Frances Hodgson Burnett. Crabapple trees and a wisteria pergola adorn the Italian garden, and hundreds of colourful tulips bring the French garden to life in the spring. Walter Schott's sculpture Three Dancing Maidens can be found in the French garden.

Visiting the Conservatory Garden in New York City

The Conservatory Garden is located at the northeast end of Central Park. Visitors can enter the Garden through the Vanderbilt Gate at 105th Street and Fifth Avenue.
