A perfect destination to combine with a visit to the nearby Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, the Dwyer showcases exciting exhibits and a full calendar of events and activities that celebrate Harlem.

Harlem is... Art, Music, and Literature

The Dwyer features groundbreaking long-and short-term exhibitions about Harlem that use a variety of mediums including film and contemporary art. The main space of the center displays the award-winning permanent exhibit “harlem is…” which explores the incredible contributions Harlem has made to art, music and literature.

In addition to its exciting exhibits and interactive guided tours, the center also offers film series, community workshops, youth leadership programs and a year-round schedule of live music, theatre and dance performances.

Visiting the Dwyer Cultural Center in New York City

The Dwyer is located at 258 St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem. The entrance is at 123rd Street between St. Nicholas Avenue and Frederick Douglass Boulevard.

Space at the Dwyer can be rented for conferences, seminars and workshops as well as performances, rehearsals or special events. The five flexible areas feature wireless internet access and full audio/visual capabilities.
