The Kitano New YorkThe Kitano is an upscale, boutique hotel located on Park Avenue in Midtown, New York City. The Kitano was established in 1973 and since then has been the only Japanese hotel within the city. It’s centrally located and advertises as being extremely walkable to nearby attractions. The establishment caters primary to business professionals but also receives many tourists who are visiting the city.
The Kitano features a range of rooms including their regular guest rooms and leading up to the Tatami Suite. Regular guest rooms feature air conditioning and free WiFi, as well as a plasma television. The Tatami Suite is a high-end lodging option that can give guests an authentic taste of Japanese life. These rooms feature Tatami floor mats, wood floors, and shoji screens. There are two floors of smoking rooms, but the rest of the hotel is designed to be non-smoking. There is no pet policy in place, so pets are not allowed.
In terms of amenities, it appears that the Kitano focuses on providing higher end Asian cuisine as their primary draw. Hakubai is the main onsite restaurant, and it features authentic Kaiseki cuisine made by Chef Yukihiro Sato. There is also a more casual establishment on premises called the JAZZ, which serves all three meals and also presents live Jazz music for guests. There is a cocktail bar that opens up in the evening at the JAZZ, as well. Guests will also enjoy the high-end art collection located throughout the hotel, presented by Azzurrini Fine Art & Jewelry.
The Kitano is located in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen and as a result, receives a lot of traffic from cultural tourists. The Kitano is within walking distance of Bryant Park as well as a wide variety of dining options.
