The Wolcott HotelThe Wolcott Hotel is a historic 3-star hotel in Midtown Manhattan, overlooking Koreatown and the Empire State Building. Other than being just steps away from local attractions that also include the Madison Square Garden and NoMad District, there’s not much in the way of other luxuries. These are limited to a fitness room, on-site laundry services and complimentary snacks and drinks in the lobby.
Over a century old hotel opened in 1904 and has 160 guestrooms. The vintage vibe is therefore present in the chandeliered and carpeted lobby as well as room interior. The choice includes standard twin and queen rooms, as well as triple rooms and junior suites that are better suited for larger groups. Both smoking and non-smoking variants are available.
Unfortunately, there’s a free for WiFi, though other room amenities like cable TV with pay-per-view movies, a desk and chair, air-conditioning unit, ironing facilities and a bathroom with a show and tub combination are complimentary. The Wolcott also have an on-site laundry and valet service.
Guests who are interested in working out can use their small fitness centre with a few cardio machines.
As far as breakfast and dining go, then there’s none other than the complimentary coffee, tea, and muffins in the lobby every day as a grab-and-go breakfast.
One of the prime reasons for picking this lodging for many would also be the central location which is also close to subway stations. Being better known for its working culture, the hotel area a short walking distance from prime tourist destinations like Grand Central Terminal and Times Square too. Central Park and Lower Manhattan landmarks are better reached by public transportation, however.
Overall, choosing to stay at the Wolcott Hotel would mean making a few compromises in the way of amenities, though the good feedback and affordable rates offer a reasonable balance for the less demanding traveller.
